Birds on the Wharf

Home

poster of 4 common wharf birds

The Santa Cruz Wharf is very public and very populated by birds.

  1. Western Gull: The Western Gull quite likes the railings here.
  2. Brown Pelican: Brown Pelicans are often seen landing on the roof or gliding by the windows of any restaurant.
  3. Clark's Grebe: A Clark’s Grebe or closely related Western Grebe can be seen near the wharf in the water diving for food.
  4. Double-crested Cormorant: This Double-crested Cormorant seems to be resting, but they are also seen swimming under water after fish.
