Birds as Art

What do water birds eat?

Home

poster of 4 large water birds with prey

Water birds eat more than fish, and they can be found close to, or far from, water.

  1. Great Egret: Shoreline Lake provides small fish for Egrets and Terns.
  2. Black-crowned Night Heron (Juvenile): This short and stocky Heron has found a frog at The Oka Wildlife Sanctuary.
  3. Western Gull: You can find a Western Gull on any Pacific Coast beach, but not always the crab.
  4. Great Blue Heron: The last place you might look for a water bird, but they know when there is a population explosion of voles or mice in a dry field somewhere.
